3ds Max Tutorial - Texturing by SgtHK 3ds Max Tutorial - Texturing by SgtHK
People all over keep asking me how I did the texture work on my Terran Marine. Now the secret is out. This tutorial shows how.

This is a tutorial similar to the one I submitted before but with updated techniques. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to comment. I will not guarantee a reply to every question or comment, though.

Additiona Notes:

You can add up to 4 bump maps in the Utility Bump Combiner for scratches, dents, etc. If you need to add even more bump maps, just put the Bump Combiner inside another Bump Combiner!

Hi.. this tutorial is great, im really happy for it. The result look really similar to the blizzard cinematics!
I'm using vray and i want to tune my parameters , but its difficult without using the same textures
So if you could share the file name of the textures from cgtextures it would be awesome.

I just have one question....Did everything and the result was awesome except when you start with Utility Bump Map combiner. The tutorial does not state where to add Utility Bump Map combiner.

Can you please guide ?

Hi. What version of 3ds Max are you using? This tutorial was made for 3ds Max 2010. Unfortunately the developers removed the Bump Combiner utility starting on 3ds Max 2011 and above, which is a real drag. What I did for this was to add the bump map to each material one by one. It's much more time consuming but I couldn't see any other way.

hello I seem to not find the utility bump combiner in 3ds 2012?
SgtHK Featured By Owner Oct 20, 2012
Hello. Yes the utility bump combiner has been removed starting on 3ds Max 2011 and it doesn't seem like the developers are planning on bringing it back. :(
